m15 R5, Black Screen

My Alienware M15 r5 turns on, but the screen doesn't ever turn on. Everything else works perfectly fine and I can hook it up to a different monitor. I have tried restarting it, resetting the cmos, unplugging the battery, and switching the RAM.

Hi,

A bridge BIOS is available for installation. If you need to downgrade to a previous version due to issues with the latest update, please contact tech support via the "Get Help Now" chat button located at the bottom right corner of the page.

Kindly inform them that you are experiencing a No Video issue after updating the BIOS on your m15 Ryzen Edition R5 and that you require the bridge BIOS to perform the downgrade.

If you encounter any issue while trying to get support, please let me know.

I spoke with customer support about this issue yesterday and was told I would have to ship my laptop in to have this issue repaired. Is this bridge BIOS a confirmed fix for this issue. My screen has gone dark after performing a BIOS update.

@DELL-Nat M I tried this, and the technical support team said there is no bridge BIOS available for M15R5. Still no solution for this BIOS problem since June.........

I've been stuck with the same issue for over a month, but since I'm also out of warranty I've been waiting for the BIOS fix to get pushed.

1.22.1 was released last night:
https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=5432n&oscode=wt64a&productcode=alienware-m15-r5-laptop

Since I have no display and I'm not getting any error lights, I initially was trying to use the END method on boot to get it to blind flash from USB, but that isn't working.

Power button lights up solid, keyboard cycles through colors once and then goes steady.

Does anyone know exactly what steps should be followed? I've tried everything from disconnecting the battery, draining flea power, resetting/removing RAM (when I remove both modules I do get the error 2,3 error), copying the BIOS_IMG.rcv file onto a USB drive and then cycling on using various power combinations (AC and battery connected, only battery then connecting AC after power-on, AC only with battery disconnected) being done both with the END key depressed on power-up and CTRL-ESC during power-up. Same result each time- power light is on and solid, keyboard does 1 cycle through colors and then stays solid, and the USB jump drive light is on and remains solid.

With all of the evidence in the forums here and elsewhere, it is hard to dispute that this is *not* an independent hardware failure with so many people experiencing these issues following a forced BIOS push.
