Hi
More details,pls. (BIOS,etc.)
Have you updated all your drivers?
Check on your friend's computer.
I have been using Oculus Rift S with Ali 15 R3 and A-51m. I haven't observed such behavior.

Updated bios: Alienware 1.5.0, 9/10/2018
All drivers updated
Latest Windows version 64 bit 10.0.18362 Build 18362.
Also want to add after running a system check my battery is unable to charge but on some occasions it does charge. Also sometimes during games such as superhot the charger will stop working (the blue ring will turn off) but most of the times that it has turned off i have not observed such behavior. I personally think its a battery related issue. The first time i used vr and this happened i rebooted my laptop and it said to shut down and wait till the battery was at a lower heat

HI
What if you disconnect battery.
Have you tried to connect USB cable from Oculus Rift S to Thunderbolt 3 using an adapter?
Is there a swollen battery in your laptop? In that case you have three years' warranty for the battery
By the way what firmware do you have? Mine is 2.2.0

Hi
Have you got any program for monitoring all components of your laptop? I mean to control temperature and clock, for example, CPUID HWMonitor. I'm not sure in free version you can but in Pro there is an option to save logs automatically of GPU & CPU temperatures. It is possible that it happens not only because of battery.
Keep me posted.
Happy New Year!

Just a thought
Is your antivirus running a scan in the background and setup to shutdown once the scan is completed. That seems to be what just happened to me, I'm using Norton 360.

Hi @the1collin the 17 R4 has Hybrid Power Design and requires both battery and ac adapter power. When playing power hungry games the battery charge will reduce. The system will shut down the game when battery power is very low, depending on system threshold setting.
Battery performance will degrade over time and use. For the typical user, noticeable reduction in run time generally will be observed after 18 to 24 months. For a power user, reduction in run time generally may be experienced within 18 months. Dell recommends installing a new Alienware OEM battery when the run time does not meet your needs. [Battery FAQs] Battery's wear level - Notebook Review
Here are the Dell part numbers of new OEM replacement battery:
New Alienware 17 R4 / Alienware 15 R3 Original 4-cell Laptop Battery 68Wh - DP/N 44T2R
New Alienware 17 R4 / Alienware 15 R3 Original 6-cell Laptop Battery 99Wh - DP/N 9NJM1
Getting Genuine OEM Parts is currently difficult, they should include a 1 Year Warranty. On arrival, check that replacement has the correct Alienware appearance, information and connection. Check that the white label includes DP/N and beneath the square matrix the Year/Month should be less than 6 months.
