15 R4, AWCC

Greetings,

As much as I 'love' my alienware, there is one aspect I can really do without and that is all the lightbars.  Is there a way I can manually control the keyboard backlight and PERMANENTLY switch off all the bling?

Up until a couple of days ago, the AWCC would execute the settings I had made and switch off the bling after a few moments following powerup.  With the update, the delay has extended markedly.

So can I roll back to a previous version of AWCC or better still disable all the bling with the exception of the KB backlight?

Thank you

Steve

Greetings, JOcean

Thank you for taking the time to reply!  Perhaps I should have made a better job of describing what I wanted to achieve... The keyboard backlight is the ONLY light I want to keep as it does serve a purpose.  If possible, I would like all the other lights (on the side of the display, etc) to be always OFF.

This may help and I believe there is a setting for dark or black which would turn off the blacklight.

Hi @Steve-WR welcome to this free user to user Alienware laptop discussion forum. This is not Dell Support.

There are many Alienware Support videos on Alienware Support - YouTube. The following YouTube video is a brief summary of typical AWCC features. Different versions of the Dell AWCC application provide more features for higher specification Models and Revision numbers.

Greetings, 5 Rhenium and thank you for replying... I'll check out the information you provided... I have managed to disconnect the lightbars in the base of the Alienware... I might have to do the same for the monitor if it seems there is no way to permanently disable all the flashy stuff using AWCC...

Thank you, once again!

Hi @Steve-WR  the AWCC features you are looking for are universally available in all versions. So if they are not there, its down to a bad install of AWCC.

Deleting AWCC before installing AWCC update leaves many legacy files behind. Revo Uninstaller Free will delete Dell AWCC application then use its advanced scan to remove all legacy files from the system. Download Revo Uninstaller Free - Remove unwanted programs easily Then Restart (not Shut Down) to save these changes.

Having downloaded the AWCC update file onto your system, please verify its checksum value to ensure download file is good, then install. (Usually provide link to your AWCC update webpage, but Model and Revision number not shared.)

Hello Crimson..  Thank you for your suggestion.... I'll check this out.

It was very politely pointed out that I omitted to include the model number of the Alienware so just in case this could make all the difference

Dell Alienware 15R4...purchased about 2 years ago...

Cheers

Steve
