15 R3, running without battery?

Alienware 15 R3

Alienware 15 R3

Hello,

I have an Alienware 15 R3 laptop with swollen battery. It happened all of a sudden and its almost cracked the chassy of my laptop. Since I do a lot of travelling and was looking for a way to have a powerful yet lighter laptop to carry around, I was wondering if I can simply remove the battery and run the laptop directly from the wall power (I still have geniune Dell power brick for this laptop) ? This will take away a lot of weight from my backpack and I mostly use this laptop on proper office desks anyways (with regulated power supply) so It shouldn't cause any problems right? If the Dell engineering can suggest steps to configure this in BIOS so I don't get any nuisance errors, that would be great.

Thanks

Yes, you can run a laptop perfectly fine without the internal battery. You usually don't have to make any changes but I've never used the 15 R3 so it may be different. I often run my old M18x R2 without the battery.

Thanks Matty,

While the battery removal process is straight forward, It is time consuming and i just needed an expert opinion before picking up my screwdriver.
