Samsung 960PRO in Alieware 17 R4, Bios sees the MVME but winndows 10 no...any advice is welcome
I just got an Samsung 960PRO for my Alienware 17 R4. I just installed and I can see the memory in the BIOS, however, it is not recognised by windows! Any advice is welcome.
I have tried to install the driver, using Samsung NVM Express Driver 2.2, however, it shows "Samsung NVM Express device is not connected. Connect the device and try again".
Any advice?

Problem solved. Spent 3 hours on phone with Alienware Tech Support. Two changes were made and the problem was solved. I do not know which change (or both) actually fixed the problem. 1) rebooted the computer. Pressed F2 to get into Setup menu. Clicked the Advanced tab. Changed SATA Operation from "RAID on" to AHCI. 2) downloaded and installed the latest Alienware BIOS. Installed BIOS ver 1.1.9 was 1.1.8
After these two changes the Samsung NVM Express driver installation worked just fine. We initialized the new SSD using Disk Management. I wanted to use the new 960 PRO as to boot drive so we Cloned the current boot drive to the 960 PRO. The system now boots faster and my boot drive is 2TB SSD instead of the prior 1TB slower SSD. Conclusion: it is likely that changing the SATA Operation to AHCI was the only change that was needed to fix the Express driver installation, I don't know for sure.

Same here. I just installed a Samsung PRO 960 2TB and I get the same error message when I try to install the NVME driver. One Dell technician said 2TB NVMe would work and another Dell technician said the limit was 1TB NVMe. So it is possible that a PRO 2TB may fail to load the driver and a PRO 1TB may load the driver successfully. I don't know yet.
The Samsung NVM Express Driver v2.2 Installation Guide says:

Windows Operating System shall successfully load the driver only when Samsung NVMe SSD 960 PRO, 960 EVO or 950 PRO is installed to
PCIe slot directly connected to CPU or
M.2 or PCIe slot connected to PCH.
However, in the PCH case, Windows Operating System cannot load the driver under following BIOS configurations where
PCH Storage Configuration is set to “Raid Mode, or NAND/Storage Remapping option*” is enabled.
* The option name can be different according to Mother-boards(M/B) manufacturers. Please refer to your M/B manual.

I will call Alienware tech support later today and see if they can fix this "device is not connected" problem.

Yes....I solved by myself I noticed the HDD was configured as RAID....Problem solved! Thanks
