here are the beep codes. the number stands for number of beeps. the beeps may possibly loop after a few seconds. do only count one beep cycle.

1 Possible Motherboard (covers BIOS corruption or ROM error)

2 No RAM detected

3 Possible Motherboard Chipset

4 RAM failure (other)

5 CMOS Battery

6 Video card/chip

7 CPU

8 LCD

Hold the D key and press the power button. Please confirm if the screen changes colors

Hold the Fn key and press the power button. The system should start running a diagnostic test. Please let me know if it works.

Hi Nawaf_2 and Alex, I have exactly the same problem.  M14x boots up once in every ten attempts otherwise I get the dreaded continuous beep.  I spoke with tech support and they have told me I need a new motherboard but at over £300 and the laptop is less than 18 months old, I feel this is a bit steep... Do you have any other suggestions please?

Hi THE_TUBSTER,

I try to search for used motherboard, but the problem I don't know the name of the motherboard or the version of it .

Could you please help me to know the name of the motherboard .

Hi Nawaf_2,

I'm really not impressed that it will be over £400 to fix a hardware failure when my laptop is only 18 months old. Will try and find out what the motherboard is as I'd rather replace my own too and try and save some money. Will keep you posted, but if you find out the model number in the meantime, I'd be very grateful if you would share it.

Thanks
