Is it better working on integrated gpu or dedicate(nvidia) while working normally (not gaming)

Hi,

I’m using dell Alienware R4 17” with these performances:

cpu: i7 6820 HK

gpu: nvidia geforce 1070- 8GB

ram: 16 GB

hdd 256 ssd + 1TB hdd (7200 RPM)

OS: windows 10 Pro

_____________

So,

1. while I switch to integrated intel hd it sometimes freezes and goes much slower (display adapter properties it reads only 128 mb dedicated video card memory)

2. On the other hand, while working with GPU Nvidia 1070 it goes too fast (it reads all 8GB on dedicated video memory in display adapter properties)

Since I installed the Windows 10 Pro on this laptop I am using only GPU Nvidia mode (even in normal wondows startup), is there something wrong, could this cause bad effects later? Or what should I do, I want your opinion?!

Hi ArdiOrion‌,

The integrated is recommended most of all to save battery, but using the Nvidia all the time is not going to give any problems.
