e-sata connection

Hi, I was given a hdd encloser with an e-sata connection. I plugged it in to see what the speed difference was and nothing front or back port.

I ha ve an area 51 alx. Are the e-sata connections supposed to work straight away or do I need to activate them.

I also have another problem. When I ordered this box I had 2 hdd's fitted non raided. I have bought a pair of crusial v4 256gb ssd's What do I need to do to activate or just get into the raid set up as the bios shows nothing.

Forgive my ignorance

Regards

Alan.

You need to press CTRL+ I during the startup to see the RAID screen.

Here is how.

Does the eSata drive work on another machine?

Try turning machine off before connecting and remember that eSata requires external power.

If no devices in Device Manager are in error, eSata Ports should be working. It's either a JMicron or Silicon Image controller (not the Intel ports).

And yes ... eSata is very fast.
