CPU temperature
I recently purchased a new alienware x51, of which I am pretty pleased with. During long gaming sessions, on games such as skyrim, using Core Temp, my cpu temperature reaches about 71 degrees Celsius. I am wondering if this temperature is too high, as I would like to avoid damaging my new computer.

Do you know what CPU you have? such as Intel I7 4820K?

I assume your processor is the Intel - i3 version: if it is the maximum SAFE temperature is: 72.6°C as per: Intel's Website
There are three different processors that you could have: i3, i5, i7.... so if you can figure that out get back with me and I will look up the maximum safe temperature, as the thermal property's are different with each processor.

70 degrees is fine, we will consider overheating after 97 degrees so your system is working properly.

dont worry, the most references of intel processors can reach 100°C before shut down
less than 80°C is perfect, you have 10°C less than that, so you are very secure :)

Your answer is correct to the best of my knowledge on the subject. So don't worry about the CPU temp being less than 80°C.
