Can I move my X51 R1 *i think its R1* to a bigger case and use an internal PSU instead of the exterior 240w brick?

Firstly, I am new to computers and I bought this X51 from a friend for a very good price! when I am Gaming this X51 gets pretty hot and I also just want more room for better hardware. I would like to move it to a bigger case and use an internal PSU somewhere around 400-500w. I want to keep the same MoBo, CPU (for now) and GPU.

Is this a possible task?

shouldnt' be much of an issue assuming you can find one that mounts a mini itx board...  and also assuming the motherboard has a proper 24 pin psu connection which i beleive the R1 and R2 did , i know the R3 i have has a dosent which sucks ..

as for temp i havent had much issues and im running a 970 GTX (also had a 1070gtx at one point) and a 6700 (also had a 6700k but built another rig for those)  i just keep the dust clean every few weeks... makes a big difference , i also replaced the mechanical drive with a good solid state so probably helps a bit with airflow for the video card..

HI, thanks for your time and response, It does have a 24 pin connection which Bridges by small cable to another smaller board, I watch some youtube videos of people making the conversion, but im weary due to going thru the comments and some people saying it was frying their MoBo or that the system wont boot up due to not detecting the original Alienware power source or such things as that. I just wanna confirm that im not gonna due such damages to my MoBo

thats the issue with OEm, you always take that chance moving from thier setup... my honest opinion would be to spend the extra few bucks and buy a new motherboard thats not locked and limited like the alienware board if you choose.. otherwise can swap the parts over .. just make sure to get a board that supports your processor..

but i cant say for sure if damages will happen,  since that can happen from  incorrect install,  which i have no control over, to a variety of other things beyond my control..

but again on the alienware side... they do run warm.. its an overpowered XBOX.... just gotta keep it clean
