Laltely, my alienware x51 keep crashing when playing Tera. After that it cannot start up and the video card fan keep running wildly and make a lot of noise, no signal in the tv ( I connect the pc to tv with hdmi cable ). Just buy it for around 9 months.

I would clear CMOS and try again If it happens to turn off like that again then yes it would be overheating possibly at CPU. Test the video card too to see if it gets too hot in that case. Also after 9 months of gaming have you blown out your pc of dust and hair with compressed air, maybe you have a "Tribble" living in your PC!

Hi Eiotah,

First, make sure the problem is not a specific application or game. If you only experience this issue on Tera, try reinstalling the application first. If the problem persists or is affecting other programs, the computer might be overheating.

Try the troubleshooting steps in this article and run an ePSA test.

Let me know what results you get.

At the first time it happen I already try to cleanse the dust. But it still happen, and I cannot start up, it just have no signal in the TV. Just asking about the fans? it run full speed and nothing happen! If it overheat, the video card will like that? I have a nvidia geforce gtx 660. One time I think it got overheat and left the pc for hours, and when i go back to turn it on, the fan run full speed and nothing happen. An it also happen when I watching movie.

I have the same problem - updating your video driver helps.

Important: don't let Windows handle this. Begin by going to the NVidia site & downloading the latest driver for your video card. Now open the Device Manager, uninstall the current video driver and instal the new one from the file you just downloaded then reboot.

Ok, I also had the same problem. And this time I'll try to get in contact with DELL. The problem is the fan on the graphics card. The following happens .... As the box is very small, some components tend to be overlapping, what happens to the graphics card that is backs onto the hard drive.

To run some games, and require more graphics card, the fan will have to work to compensate with fresh air. Then there is the problem ... The air that the fan will get is hot air from the hard drive. How can not lower the temperature ... POCK ... The computer freezes and the screen appears different colors.

I've tried playing some games like Far Cry 4, and resulted in a program called MSI AFTERBURNER, I put the fan on the graphics card to the max and reduce the CORE CLOCK and MEMORY CLOCK. Now others like FIFA 15 still not got the solution.

I hope DELL can give me some solution.

Ive got the same problem. Tried reinstalling the nvidia divers. Used msi after burner.

The epsa test didn't give any errors back. Any ideas or sollutions? So far nothing I've found on the Web remedied the problem.

Same issue. GTX 660. Was fine for some time, then crashes when playing games (Far Cry 4). Updated driver, cleaned dust off of fan, over clocked fan with MSI afterburner. Is it time to replace the graphic card? Undure if I should move to the AMD R9 270x. I've read it is slightly better then 660 but unsure if it will fix this issue. Please advise. Thanks in advance for your tine .
