Alienware Aurora R4 TMPIN0 High Temps

I've tried putting on new thermal paste, but under Prime 95, it still runs at 99C. I have it overclocked to 4.2ghz. I have an i7-3930k.

Default clock highest it hits high 80s.

That sounds about right. On Prime95, mine holds at mid 70's, but I only have i7-930.

Look at max temp in Thermal Controller. That's the top of the chip.

HW-Monitor also shows socket temp. If socket is getting too hot when over-clocking ... maybe a little fan blowing at lower socket will help or ... upgrade cooler to larger after-market model.

If it instead over-heats on stock-clocks, try a new cooler or this fix:

Max temp is 88 and it stays around 82-84s.
