Alienware 17 Screen turning off?

I got an Alienware 17 laptop for my birthday in April of this year, since then everything was fine I was loving the laptop until recently. I noticed about a week ago that sometimes my screen would randomly shut off you can say, but the strange thing about the screen shutting off is it only happens when my laptop is plugged into the charger. For example if I start a game with my power cable plugged in the screen will turn off and I will still hear sounds from the game. I can even manage to lock the computer while the screen is still  black. The second I unplug the charger from my laptop the screen turns on right away. The problem even occurs if the charger is plugged in while my laptop is off, if I turn the laptop on with the charger in, the laptop will show the first boot screen with the Alienware logo then go black. I'll leave it plugged in for a bit and when I unplug it the screen turns on at the login screen.

I tried several things like resetting my power settings to the default power settings and that still did not fix it. I re installed my graphics card and still nothing! I ran the dell detect software and that found no errors in my laptop. I tried using the switch able graphics where you press FN + F5 and kept the charger in while switching the graphics and I had no problem. The laptop turned on with no black screen (with charger in) and there was no black screen what so ever. The problem with that though is the graphics card becomes to low and I can not play any games.

If anyone could help that would be appreciated thanks in advance!

[Edit] Well I found out how to fix it after sifting through different things on my laptop I went to my device manager and went to my video cards. It showed two video cards there my Nvidia one and another video card I disabled the other one and left the Nvidia now I have no problems! Hope this will help someone else as well.

Hi!

Thanks for sharing the resolution, I'm glad to hear the system is working properly now. Just to clarify, was the video card you disabled the integrated Intel graphics card?
