Alienware 17 R4 (Freezing)
Hello,
I have the Alienware 17 R4 with the i7-7820HK and GTX 1070. I am running it with the GTX 1070 enabled as default and I do not have it overclocked at all right now. For some reason, my computer will lock and freeze up no matter if I am playing a game, or just watching a movie on the laptop. This is what the Event Viewer Shows...
I have performed a Clean Install and I have the latest Bios 1.1.6. Latest Nvidia Driver and nothing I do seems to make a difference. This is driving me crazy now! Should I get the 330w Ac Adapter?
SPECS
i7-7820HK (not overclocked)
GTX-1070 (not overclocked)
Samsung 960 NVMe 512GB
16GB DDR4 RAM
240w ac adapter
Windows 10 Pro (15063.413) clean install
It is still under warranty until 2018, so I would like to find a resolution to this.
Thanks!
Anthony

I've been looking around other community sites and there is issues with the newer R4 with 1070s frying the CPU or Mobo... Check out my experience .
I don't know how to check the motherboard for issues but try leaving it on overnight and see if it freezes... (long idle) if it does make DELL repair it. (Or at least try to)

Hokman, when I first got this laptop I updated the BIOS and it bricked my computer day 1. I got a motherboard replacement after that and its always locked up. I have left it on overnight and it does lock up as well. I almost wonder if its an Nvidia driver issue that is causing it as people have reported that in the past.

Interesting, my Bios was also updated. I think around 2 weeks later it bricked.

Just read this today maybe this is the problem! I disabled Hyper-Threading (SpeedStep) in my BIOS and my processor was so freaking slow it was running at 0.87 and yes on the AC grrrrr...

Now gotta wait on Dell for another BIOS fix.
