playing Tomb Raider Game of the year edition from epic games launcher, its getting an error, I checked verify files, all looks normal

running game on Alienware Aurora R16 , using nvidia RTX 4080 super, OEM nvidia Dell Drivers, up to date for OEM driver, not official nvidia driver if needed I can try and switch it again, but I am running the driver the Alienware pc came with.

Realtek audio device output playing sound from monitor, plugged into my sound bar. with headphone jack.

game comes with epic games launcher, free version of Tomb Raider Game of the Year edition

this is the games settings as I had them set to.

the game had crashed on me, while she was climbing up between the rocks to get to the top, after the men had set the building on fire, after she jumps down and keeps going up the mountian, in this part of the game, it first had locked up on me, so I exited the game, when I reloaded my save and tried to go up it again, the second time it had crashed with the message in a crash box with the text reading this "Tiger read request doesn't belong to this archive (was 102, expected 7)"

that was the error message that crashed the Tomb Raider Game of the year edition which came from the epic games store.

I changed the Quality setting to Ultra from Ultimate, that seemed to stop the crashed error, when she goes up the mountain, I think it's a bug in the Dell Nvidia drivers maybe. that caused this problem with this game, I don't know if any of my other games might crash yet or not. this is the first time I played this game on my Alienware hardware, so I don't know if I should expect to see more crashing errors, again I am up to date with the latest OEM NVidia drivers from the Alienware pc, used SupportAssist to update them for my machine.

Also, I summitted a bug reboot about the problem in Feedback Hub app under windows 11.

R16 issues with the latest BIOs file should go here.

There are several threads on this forum about R16 crashes. If this is an Intel machine, pretty sure it is, Intel is aware of the CPU randomly crashing and working on a solution.

However, you might not want to wait and instead opt for a return if you are still in your return window. That would of course be up to you.

@Vanadiel

downgrading the bios back to 2.7.0 is that possible? or is it something that should be fixed when a newer bios than 2.8.0 is released, and its not up to me to return it but my dad, since he paid for the pc, plus if its a bug that can be fixed, since I think its only affecting this one game, and since people online reported that rise of the tomb raider gets an Tiger read request doesn't belong to this archive bug, it might be related to their hardware which is not alienware, so I didn't know that Tiger read request was a CPU thing, I really had thought that the 3D card drivers were at fault and maybe the OEM Nvidia drivers needed upgrading, but OEM Nvidia drivers, version is older than the offical nvidia drivers, but last time I tried the offical nvidia drivers, the directs 12 mode for Control under Gog Galaxy got a error and only would run under the OEM Nvidia drivers, so I thought the bug with Tomb Raider was simliar, but I guess I was wrong.

"IDXGISwapChain::ResizeBuffers: due to removed device" Directx 12  "Control Ultimate Edition" in GogGalaxy of Nvidia 556.12 rolled back to 552.41 Dell OEM Driver, which worked fine.

Game error in "Death Stranding" from epic games launcher  it had this error just once on this alienware pc

is that a bios error, "Tiger read request doesn't belong to this archive (was 102, expected 7)"

that the game "tomb raider Game of the year edition crashed on, windows 11 itself did not crash, just the game, which is why I thought it was a NVidia driver related bug, I read online when searching this error, that rise of the tomb raider has done this before, and it's not related to Alienware hardware. I had changed a few settings and was able to get passed this bug in the game, the windows 11 itself nor the pc crashed, no blue screen of death or anything like that the message came directly from the video game. Also, my bios is updated to 2.8.0., the pc came with 2.7.0 bios. sp I do have that bios you link to. we just got this pc so it would be in a return window but if its just a error in one video game I am not sure that needed yet, if they fix the bios like updates fix this problem, since the pc itself seems very stable, and I only had one video game crash on me, which is a old one, I thought maybe since it was made before they came out with the Nvidia RTX 4080 Super that it might of been a bug in the NVidia driver, not bios or cpu I didn't think its related to those for that game crash, since when I had changed the graphics from Quality setting to Ultra from Ultimate, that seemed like it fixed it, why I thought the problem was maybe the 3D card driver itself.

I did go with this pc build and the link below is the product page in which my dad had order it, at the time it was listed for less than $3,199.99.

  • harddrive

2 TB, M.2, PCIe NVMe, SSD

this also should be the same product, I think. something happened to that link I had bookmarked above.

Alienware R16 Gaming Desktop with Air Cooling & Liquid Cooling | Dell USA

  • below are not related to my error, but I did try to search this error, it seems that a similar one has happened before in rise of the tomb raider, but when I played rise of the tomb raider, I didn't get any such error yet.

Tiger read request error cant load the game :: Rise of the Tomb Raider Technical Support (steamcommunity.com)

Tiger read request :: Tomb Raider General Discussions (steamcommunity.com)

rise of the tomb raider - "Tiger read request doesn't belong to this archive (was 2, expected 11): >rq:?" - Arqade (stackexchange.com)

also as I noted dell.com seems to of raised the price of the desktop setup I went with it was under $3,199.99 when we got this pc, it was more like $2,500.99 or something like that it would be on the account on dell.com that my dad paid for the pc.

my parents gave me a price limit on what I was allowed to get as a new desktop pc. and the same setup is now over the amount of that limit, given to me by my parents. in any case, I can wait for a new bios upgrade to fix these problems since the hardware itself passed all the tests by SupportAssist

as you can see all the hardware passed its tests. I can wait for a fix if it is a problem with the CPU I think, since again the price of the pc, my dad paid for has gone up in price as its no longer priced the same as we paid for it, when I say we I mean my dad paid for it.

these 3 items may not be common, as I own a Logitech wireless mouse and charging mouse pad, called powerplay  that I am using with my alienware pc.

and my keyboard is the SteelSeries Apex 7 device. I also own a razer keyboard which I am using with my older desktop pc at home.

I don't know if your find this is helpful below, is what Alienware Command Center data on the tomb raider game on my pc

I think I wait for them to fix the bios is the problem is in 2.8.0 and not the video game itself on this pc.  it's strange I owned a pc that z690 AORUS master motherboard, and I had put an intel i9 129000k processor in it, and video games in DirectX 12 never crashed on me, it didn't have this problem if it's the Intel® Core™ i9 14900KF processor fault. I still have that processor in my gigabyte desktop, but its motherboard had broken, also I didn't have a water-based CPU fan cooler like this Alienware desktop has on it but an cooler master CPU dual fan which seemed to work fine for when I was playing my video games in its cooler master half evo 700 case.

Intel says it still doesn’t have the true fix for its crashing i9 desktop chips - The Verge

I did ask Copilot this below, if its really related to the Tomb Raider Game of the Year crashing on me, and its not the nvidia drivers itself that caused it, as you wrote me, then most likely I have to wait for a bios update, I don't want to touch the bios settings myself, I am not sure what to change to make a few games more stable, if I need to then fine, otherwise I wait for a newer bios than 2.8.0 to me released on hopes that it fixes these bugs as I posted in my post above, including death stranding bug, and the Control bug using the offical nvidia drivers in directx 12 game, since I tried to upgrade my OEM nvidia driver to the offical nvidia driver using nvidia new app but the game crashed right away on the offical nvidia driver. as I wrote above about it here.

I asked it if it's related to the i9 CPU processor copilot told me the error has to do with this

The error message “Tiger read request doesn’t belong to this archive (was 102, expected 7)” in Tomb Raider Game of the Year Edition is typically related to file integrity issues rather than directly pointing to the CPU1This error often occurs when the game files are corrupted or not properly installed12.

in this case, I didn't find it very helpful if it is the i9 CPU on the pc, then copilot doesn't have its facts correct. also, I did Verify game files with epic games launcher software it didn't have to redownload or fix anything that I can tell.
