How to control microphone audio level
This is a how do I do it question. There is nothing wrong with my computer.
I have an Alienware Aurora R10 with a NVIDIA GTX card. I have used a microphone only headset to dictate in Dragon and that has worked ok for that task. I also have a microphone associated with my Logitech camera and when the camera is on like for a Zoom call no issues with being heard when I select the Logitec mic.
I started recording my MSFS 2020 flights with NVIDIA GeoForce Experience. I chose my headset microphone as the input device in GeoForce Experience and have tried cranking microphone audio to full in the Geoforce app.
When I record a flight all the game generated audio for the flight comes through perfectly, but my commentary is barely audible and muffled.
To troubleshoot I notice that if I open Dragon and use the headset it records spoken words just fine.
If I go the Windows Sound app and select the Jack Microphone and check microphone it does not pick up any sound.
If I start Zoom and check the microphone with Mic Jack input it pics up excellent sound with good volume.
I notice that AWCC had its own audio controls where I can turn the mic on and off and adjust its volume. Turning that on or off does not impact whether Zoom for example can use the Jack Mic, that is it can hear the jack mic fine even with AWCC mic off.
So it is confusing as to what is controlling mic audio for one thing.
I have a noise cancelling headset, but maybe all the background noise from the game sounds and NVIDIA Card fan roaring is making the GeoForce app unable to pick up my microphone and record it?
Yet many folks record their MSFS 2020 flights with GeoForce and have excellent commentary recorded over the game. So I must have some setting wrong.
Any insights would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Greg

Headset should come with it's own software to control volume, among other things.

Yeah, I researched this more and I think this is a shadowplay issue and not appropriate for this forum. I also think that each app can control the mic volume independently rather than using AWCC or Windows settings.
