AW3423DWF, abnormal thermal behavior

Just got the monitor yesterday. After about 3 hours of use I am getting this error message about every 15 minutes. Also the AlienFX lighting no longer works and power button does not light up. I've contacted support and they are telling me it's an issue with my computer and not the AW3423DWF. I've connected the AW3423DWF to another system and still get the error. A factory reset did not help. What could be causing this? Seems like a hardware issue with the AW3423DWF?
