Aurora R8, replacing the top chassis fan
I need to replace the top fan in my aurora r8 to a quieter one. I bought the machine with the liquid cooling option. My problem is that the service warranty directions on removing the top fan chassis looks like it was written for the non liquid cooled option... The type of chassis on the fan looks completely different in my machine than the one in the manual. Are there any easy guides/videos on how to replace the top fan? I removed and replaced the front fan with no problems or issues. Thanks for your help.

There are 4 screws holding the fan to the radiator. You can access it without removing the whole unit but you might need to remove the aio block to get enough room since the oem nidec fan is pretty thick, not a standard 25mm.

Sorry to bump an older thread, but looking to do this myself on the same machine.
I replaced the front fan with an ML120 Pro and the difference is noticeable. Now the top fan is bothering me even more though and I'd like to replace it with the same ML 120 Pro.
It's not clear to me how I can get at that fan easily. Trying to follow the pictures posted above - are you able to get at it from the top? Do I need to disconnect the liquid cooling system to access it?
The fan currently against the radiator looks unusually thick. Can it indeed be replaced with something like the ML 120 Pro?
Appreciate the help, I can find videos for the top fan on the air cooled version of this machine but not the liquid cooled.

AFAIK, you need to remove the cooler assembly, I will be doing it this weekend when my thermal paste arrives and will give a report after in my Aurora R8, EVGA RTX 3080 XC3 Ultra Gaming, Noctua nf-a12x15-pwm-chromax-black-swap upgrade thread if you are interested.
Initially it was "just replace the front fan and add new GPU" but I am in the progress of improving thermals atm and repasting the CPU is one step, I plan to take apart the cooler assembly to see my options.

Ah, thanks glad I wasn't missing something obvious. I'll certainly follow along in that thread and good luck with the upgrade.

@r72019 Sorry for the necropost. How did you get the top off? I couldn't figure it out. I'd like to clean the radiator easier. Thanks.

@177marley easiest way to clean the radiator and fan is to pull the whole AIO cooler out of your R8. Make sure you have some good quality thermal paste on hand to re-apply when you put it all back together.
