Aurora R16, Ram and SSD upgrade
I am 84 years old so somewhat ignorant of things hardware related. I have a brand new R16 with 32gb memory. I want to upgrade to 64 but it looks like the PC only has two slots. Is that correct? IF so do I need to get 2 32 ram cards? Second the boot drive is only 1TB. I want to install s second one with 2TB. Is there a second slot I can use and if so can I use this:
SAMSUNG 990 PRO SSD NVMe M.2 PCIe Gen4, M.2 2280 Internal Solid State Hard Drive, Seq. Read Speeds Up to 7,450 MB/s for High End Computing, Gaming, and Heavy Duty Workstations, MZ-V9P2T0B/AM.
I can then switch bootable drives.

You are correct on the first point. There are only 2 slots so you would need 2 x 32GB DDR5 RAM modules. And correct on the second point as there are 2 x M.2 slots for an NVMe SSD so that Samsung should work nicely. Those slots are both Gen 4 also. Nice system and purchase as well.

@JOcean Thanks!!! Do I need to consider Gen 4, whatever that is, when I am purchasing the upgrades?

@barry309 Not at all. The Gen 4 will run much faster in a Gen 4 compatible system but Gen 3 are very fast and backward compatible. I mentioned Gen 4 since that was the Samsung SSD that you referred to in your post.

Yes, check Crucial for a 64GB memory kit certified for the XPS 8960.
ALso, the Samsung 990Pro is the best choice for a drive.
Go 4TB with a heatsink, you won't regret it. :)
