Aurora R12, speed defaults

Command Setting / Thermal Settings.

My speed is set at Default.

Balanced Tab

CPU Fan - 32 percent

Top Fan - 18 percent

Performance Tab Default

CPU Fan 35 percent

Top Fan 15 percent

That doesn't seem like a performance enhancement. There's no difference when I click on it, but there isn't much difference in the setting. They're about the same. Does anyone know what these defaults should read for the Aurora R12.?

In my personal profile settings.

The CPU Fan Speed is set at 60 percent in the Offset Mode but it's running at 70 percent.

The Top Fan Speed is set at 55 percent but running at 48 percent.

Any insight or input?

I would go with manual settings to and set it up based on thermals.

There's not really a "correct" setting as multiple factors affect what would be a "good" setting.

The presets are there based on what Alienware decided were good presets in whatever environment they tested it in.

You should not have to reapply thermal paste as long as your cooling solution works within specs.

There is no separate software that can control the fans besides AWCC. I have never been able to find one that recognizes the Alienware fan controller.

As long as the system is performing within (OEM) specs and there are no unusual crashes due to thermals, that should be all that is required.

I'm using the offset settings in the command center. I may need a thermal software.

I was wanting to see what the initial settings or factory settings was for the system. We have a new bios, but it doesn't show up in Support Assist for some reason. It shows up under my manual downloads though.

I also saw that we were supposed to replace the thermal paste between the CPU and the CPU cooler every three years. If that was true it seems like a lot of the heating problems couldn't be diagnosed. Only resolved through thermal pasting. I guess I could try that. All my fan and hardware test appear normal. Some kind of throttle assisting hardware should help. I only have windows loaded on my system at this point. Trouble shooting should be easier than this.
