Aurora R12, Kingston Fury Beast 3200 MHz issues
Hi!
I need your help for a problem for which I have not found a solution. Problem with RAM update (Kingston Fury Beast 3200 MHz working weird at 3192 MHZ and overclock is disable on bios (grey zone).
Current device spec :
-Motherboard: Z490
-11th Gen Intel Core i7-11700F
-3070
- Kingston Fury Beast 64 GB (2 x 32) DDR4 3200 XMP
My problem:
I only had a 16 GB DDR4 3466 XMP (Kingston Fury) in my computer when I bought it. Everything worked perfectly (my memory showed 3466 and the overclock feature option was active via BIOS).
As the DDR4 3466 MHZ XMP fury no longer exists / could not be found when I wanted to upgrade, I finally bought the Kingston Fury Beast 64 GB DDR4 3200 XMP.
Problem after installation:
I did the installation correctly (put the new ram in the 2 white sockets, update the BIOS by putting on XMP 1. * The overclock feature option only appears disabled / I cannot change it manually vs gray zone. * Problem 1!
Going to see my alien command center, my memory shows ''3192'' MHZ and not ''3200 MHZ''. Doing a double check via speccy, the XMP-3200 does not tell me the TRC (zero for the XMP-3200). Cas#16.00/ RAS#20 / Precharge 20 / TRAS 39 /TRC ZERO. Problem #2
Anyway, I updated the BIOS, I replaced the cards a second time, still the same specs (3192 MHz). Unable to activate the overclocking feature with the 2 x 36 GB but worked with the Kingston Fury 3466 MHz a few hours ago.
Could someone help me to be able to put the overclock feature option back on in the bios and help me understand why I don't have access to the supposed 3200 MHZ?
THANKS!
Justin

Guessing this is an Aurora R12??
If you are seeing 3192MHz the the XMP feature is enabled, otherwise you would be seeing 2400MHz (JEDEC). The 3192MHz is effectively 3200MHz. The DRAM frequency varies slightly during operation. Is this the RAM you installed?

@ProfessorW00d
This is the exact model I just installed! If I understand correctly, it's normal to see the frequency only reach 3192 and not 3200 because of the frequence variation during operation . That's good to know. But would you have an explanation why the overclock feature is disabled via the bios since the introduction of the two new Fury Beat 2 x 32 GB bars? No way to turn it back on via the bios (grey zone).
And thank you for taking the time to respond, it's really appreciated!

@JustinaddQC I would suggest using CPU-Z and looking at the memory and SPD tabs to see information related to frequency and stored profiles.

@JustinaddQC not sure whay the XMP feature is 'grey zone' in BIOS. Does AWCC show overclock enabled? Regardless, if you are seeing 3192MHz, that is clearly running XMP Profile #1. Follow advise from Vanadiel and use CPU-Z. Post a snip of the Memory and SPD tabs.
