Aurora R11, dust filters for the fans?
I'll hopefully be ordering a R11 later this month (yay) and I wanted to know if there are any dust filters recommended that I could buy at the same time.
I happen to have a cat with semi-long hair that's eternally shedding, so I know it's gonna get in there, as it currently happens with a laptop sitting on a desk (the tower will sit lower, but not on the floor).
Thanks in advance for any replies.

Filter = Air Restriction
Any filter restricts air flow to some extent.

There are also metal filters

Panty hoze stockings for very large ladies and then covering the fan is what I use for a cat filter.
It requires regular maintenance to remove the cat hair.
Basic cut square put over fan opening then use duct tape to hold in place.

That's a tough one, as you can see by the post of customers having problems with overheating, the small case of the Aurora R9, R10 and R11s is not conclusive to good airflow. If Alienware thought dust filters were a good idea, they would include them.
The problem with filters is they clog and the next thing you know, no more air flow. You would have to plug the front of the R11 case with filter material of some type, and bang, your air flow will go down restricted by even a clean filter.
If it were me and I didn't want overheating problems...I would get a computer in a full tower case with a large fan for air intake and cover that with filter material...probably changing it religiously every week.

This thing is awesome and a great investment. I agree that you will be restricting the airflow. Honestly I have had my R9 Liquid cooled and a rtx2080 super w/ msi afterburner controlling my gpu fan/temps and I personally never had a overheating issue with my unit. I bought this blower and service my R9 once a month. I have cats and I have never seen a cat hair/furball inside the unit. I highly recommend this blower.

I better add this info. too. When blowing the fans , hold them still while blowing the tips off.
Cheers

Thank you all for your comments and suggestions. Loved the large lady pantyhose comment!

You are advised to use words carefully otherwise the large ladies will kill you.
It was not a joke however. I've used panty hoze in the past for that exact function. Especially in the field where the local 7 11 or walmart is the only store that has things to macgyver a solution for at 3am.

Used dryer-sheets work nice.
You just have to remember to change them.

Well, a more radical idea came to me... I have a desk I ordered on the way:
(not exactly that one, but similar)
And I was thinking of simply enclosing the tower using mesh filter sheets. Rightmost one would have to be something more solid to prevent knee-hitting, like wood, but the other 3 sides would be mesh. I'm guessing some diagonal bars would also be needed on the left side because of the large surface space.
I like the concept, but I'll obviously wait to have both the desk and pc before committing. The only problem (and don't say looks!) would probably be the heat from the exhaust being also enclosed within the mesh.
For now it's only a weird idea in my head, but if I ever go for it, I'll let you know

This is just to say I went with it (front and left side are combination of pvc mesh on the outside and 5mm carbon filter on the inside. The twin usb 120mm fans at the back are a bit too much, but they were on promo and are even quieter than the tower ones)
Works fine and stops pretty much everything, though only a bit of thin, powder dust sized can go in over time (after a month of usage).
I guess the only downside is having to open the front to turn on the tower?

@robesasu If you are connected on a wired network, you can normally do WoL (wakeup on lan). This seems a good reference for setting up, keep in mind I have never done this

@robesasu
I configured my computer as instructed on that page
Added a fixed address-ip for my computer on the internet box dhcp.
Added a WoL app on my iphone, set the mac-address, ip-address and the network-mask.
Turned off my computer, went to the kitchen, used my phone to switch on computer.
Computer turned on

That's a neat idea, though I'm on wifi, so I won't be trying it.

@speedstep Yeah, you go ahead and use the pantyhose method.....and 3 months from now your computer will overheat, due to air flow being totally blocked. The correct resolution is to add two fans to the R11 case and upgrade the existing fans and open your case every 6 months and blow it out. Now that's how you fix air flow issues.
