Aurora 10, motherboard, case swap
Greetings,
I thought it would be interesting to attempt a case swap with a R10 Motherboard.
Only problem so far is connecting a standard 2 wire power button.
Is there a way to connect a standard power button to a R10 motherboard?
…and has anyone done a standard power switch with light?
I currently just have the unlit version.

Thank you for your comments.
I have an Asus Strix WiFi MB but wanted to play around with this since I have it.
Not really knowing what is what guessing the Yellow connector is likely the one that deals with the power switch. No fan issues so far as I am using stock fans and stock liquid cooler.

I think if i was doing a case swap, I'd be binning the motherboard and getting something Asus or MSI.. To fix your fan pin issue you might have to splice in the correct connectors. Most elec hobby stores would have them.

I wouldn't splice it to a two pin just mobo swap

Thank you for commenting.
I am not clear on what you are saying?
The standard classic power switch I am using is a two wire with a two pin connector and red and black wires as shown. Worked fine on the Asus Strix but wanted to try to get the R10 going. I have other computers, just messing with this for fun. I thought it might be fun to try the R10 in a different case including and open frame case as a start.

The Aurora board is a proprietary connection, LED power runs through the pin outs as well as the power on/off and such. Most just pull the alien head out of the case and mod it into their case swap if they don't want to buy a new mobo

So for the R10 does one basically have to use the existing front panel and connections from the R10 case to not get errors? And add a 20 pin PCIe USB card for the front panel of new case - providing that new case needs a 20 pin?

someone did it on R11 likely the same for R10.

What do you need to do?
1. Short Black USB header Pin 4 and Pin 10
2. Short Blue USB header Pin 14 and Pin 17
3. Short LED CON Header Pin 3 and Pin 9 (or Ground)
4. Extend LED CON Header Pin 4 and Pin 8 for Power Switch

Thank you! A lot to take in.
I found a generic power supply worked for my R10 when the motherboard was in the R10 case. Likely the same in the new case.

Pretty straight forward to get around the support assist startup errors. Just follow Picture #1. You can either bypass these by soldering the backside of the motherboard or what I did for the usb slots was order 2 usb 3.0 extension cables from amazon and spliced the cables in half and soldered the correct cables together for the jumper.
For the Led_Connector I ordered part# 0JNP2 ASSY,CBL,PWR BUTTON,MB-LED,R9 from dells website via spare parts chat. This is the stock 12 pin cable which I cut the one end off and soldered the correct cables together.
”
Do you think he meant extension cables like these:

I guess the question remains, is the R10 the same as the ones mentioned?
I might have missed it.

per one R10 owner "There's a bit of conflicting info on which pins exactly but plugging in the case power pins to pins 4 and 5 (from the left) on the LED_CONTROLLER header enabled the case power switch but throws an error on boot that I have to skip."

The power button on the R10 seems to be an extension of the motherboard in that it flashes the MB error codes. In my original post, I asked if anyone has tried a lighted button. So in the 12 pin led header is the power button, the led for the button and likely the other LEDs for the ring of light etc. As an extension there is likely the future built into that.

If I remember correctly the controller board is part of the power button and the motherboard looks for the controller boards being plugged in and that's why the bios error is throw, might be able to short certain pins to fool it

The front bezel comes off.
The power button and front panel come off.
Does the bezel come a part into pieces beyond that - other than the side part?
