Area-51 R5, upgrading to four 16GB sticks (hx426c16fb4k4/64)

Hello,

I tried upgrading my R5 that originally had 2x8GB memory sticks to 4x16GB sticks (hx426c16fb4k4/64).

HyperX DDR4-2666 CL16 288-Pin DIMM Kit

To my knowledge and from I read on Dell forum and Kingston memory selector, those 4 sticks should work. But when I put them in the computer, I get 2 beeps from the BIOS, like if the memory is not recognised. I tried on at the time, 2 at the time, same conclusion. Does anyone can help me figure out our to make those HyperX stick work?

Thanks!

Also, the error code you're receiving indicates that the computer isn't detecting the RAM. Which is why I suggested reseating them and making sure they are pushed in all the way.

One other comment.  The R5 only officially supports up to 2133mhz RAM (or 2400mhz via XMP).  I think you got 2666 XMP RAM, which exceeds the rated specifications.  I realize that some third parties like crucial might indicate the R5 supports 2666.  But keeping in mind the Aurora is notoriously picky with RAM.  Normally you'd just expect it to get down-clocked to the supported speed, but that is not necessarily the case with this lineup. There are a lot of weird quirks.  If the above doesn't work, one other thing I'd suggest you try, is to disable XMP when booting using the OEM sticks, and see if that helps with the new sticks.  Otherwise, not much else to do since the BIOS is limited and won't otherwise allow user set RAM timings.

Try pushing the ram sticks in all the way until they click, and then clearing CMOS.  Be sure to discharge flea power before opening up your PC.

That's an Area 51 R5 spec sheet.  Are we talking Aurora R5 or Area 51 R5?  I had assumed we were talking Aurora R5.

Hello guys,

Thanks for the help. I will try the CMOS trick tonight. I had not try pushing the power button to release the residual power.

I was refering to Area51 R5.

thanks,

I also would like to know if this worked.  I pulled a pair of 8 and put in a pair of 16 that I borrowed temporarily from another system im my Area-51 R4 but did not get the expected 16+32 so I am back to 4x8-32.

They were all ddr4 but not same manufacturer.
