Alpha R1, cannot update BIOS, erroneous password request
Hi, I'm working with an Alpha Box running BIOS A04 right now after I had to reinstall windows from a Dell provided usb. I have been unable to update my BIOS with any of the following files downloaded from Dell ASM100-A05, A06, or A07. In every case the install seems to be going well until a self-generated password request box opens, and there simply is no password I can put in to satisfy the request. Consequently, I've been unable to experience solid wifi connectivity even though Intel says I have the latest drivers from them, though my wired connection is working fine.

The following forum posts may help.

Also. And if the jumper suggestion does not work, try removing the CMOS (coin cell) battery for 15 minutes. Then reinsert the battery.

I suffered the same fate today and have yet to find a solution. I used System Update to update bios on my T61P. The install was successful. However, when the system restarted, Windows (XP Pro) did not boot. Instead, the system went to a black screen with a lock icon in the left corner.
