Alpha, in game Alien head flashing

So recently I downloaded this game from steam, and made the shortcut onto the desktop. After playing the game for some time I had noticed the alien head went completely off, but my game play hadn't changed. A few minutes later I noticed the alien head was flashing from red to yellow then back off, not a fast flash but enough to catch my eye and raise my concern. After exiting the game the color went back to the normal color I set it to. I've noticed that the alien head only flashes whenever I'm playing that specific game, no other game causes this to happen. I do recall when loading the game a  popup saying I need to update my driver or something, but gives me the option to play with lower quality settings. Since everything else seems to be working fine but that one game, I'm wondering first what's causing the alien head to change color. Second I'm wondering if it still okay to play that game or if I should just delete it and play other games?
