XPS Compatible with Linux
I Will get an XPS 15 via my company soon which will come with Windows preinstalled. This is the basic configuration.
Dell W5170151301SGW10PRO - XPS 15
11th Generation Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-11900H (24MB Cache, up to 4.9 GHz, 8 cores)
15.6" UHD+ (3840 x 2400) InfinityEdge Touch Anti-Reflecitve 500-Nit Display
I intend to do a clean wipe out to set up my Linux desktop, but anyone has experience running linux on this or similar models? I hope it works well? Asking this particularly because this model does not seem to be ubuntu certified.
Also, I have never used Linux with a touch screen, so want to clarify if anyone has any distro recommendations. Initially I was thinking Feren OS, but read it does not work that well with Linux. Any other popular ubuntu based distribution recommended for this model and screen?
Also, two more questions
- Will I have to do any special to set up all the touch screen drivers? Or will they work right out of the box from a live USB?
- Which F-Key controls the boot order when booting to ensure it does boot from the live USB
- Will there be any issue at the firmware level if I wipe out the windows to replace with Ubuntu or something similar?
