XPS 15 9506 LAN and Wifi disconnects

Hi,

My network connection keeps dropping out. I usually connect via an Ethernet dongle connected to the right hand USB port, which is connected to a virgin media super hub 3.0 via powerline connectors.

It generally only losses connection briefly and recovers itself. If Its not recovered in 30 seconds I run the trouble shooter and it fixes it but states

Windows can't communicate with the device or resource (primary DNS server)
and
Security or firewall settings might be blocking the connection

and sometimes

the default gateway is unavailable

(I'm running kaspersky and did a fresh reinstall, but I'm still seeing this)

My Wifi is usually switched off, but I've been physically disconnecting the ethernet and trying wifi but I get similar results

Wifi doesn't disconnect as often but when it does more often than not need to run the trouble shooter to recover and its resets the wifi adapter

I've been into adapter settings and made sure power saving is off on both the ethernet and wifi.

I've read there are loads of issues with the Killer wireless card but would this impact the ethernet connection?

I've been to the Dell support pages for my systems and reinstalled drivers and utilities

I've also tried this https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-uk/drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=2DNC8
From this post https://www.dell.com/community/Laptops-General-Read-Only/Dell-XPS-15-9560-WiFi-Problem/td-p/5140413

I went to the ASIX site and downloaded the driver for my ethernet dongle, the program instructions were in Chinese, but I think i did it correctly
ASIX AX88179 usb 3.0 to gigabit ethernet adapter
AX88179_178A_Win10_64bit_Driver_v1.20.7.0
AX88179_178A_Win10_v1.20.7.0_Drivers_Setup_v1.0.7.0

Kind of stumped now. My next step would be a full windows re-install. It has been 3 years since i got the laptop so one is probably overdue!
