XPS 13 9380 Fingerprint sensor not working after sleep
The fingerprint sensor was working just fine since I bought my laptop in Aug 2019, a couple of months ago I started noticing it doesnt work sometimes, then I started correlating the problem to the laptop being asleep. It happens everytime the laptop sleeps, when it wakes up it I cant log in using the fingerprint sensor, I have to use the password.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver, and unticking the box that allows PC to turn off the sensor to save energy, both solutions didnt work.
Any ideas?

I have the same issue with my Inspiron14 5410 despite updating and reinstalling the goodix moc fingerprint driver. Would love to see a resolution.

Are you saying that after sleep the computer forces you to use your password without even letting you attempt to use your fingerprint? Or that after sleep it will fail to read your fingerprint then revert to asking you for your password?

@d5123101
I realise this should have been resolved over a year ago, but I'm still getting this. I don't think it's intermittent. What I get is the second case, where the fingerprint reader doesn't recognise your print. (Which it did do before you went into sleep.) This forces you to login with a PIN. So it looks like an interaction within the laptop set up rather than a general Windows Hello problem.
In the meantime, I have not seen a general solution for this, but I will keep looking. Thanks for any help or pointers that I missed.

@d5123101 And 3 years later in 2025, I still get the first kind of problem with the new XPS 13 9345, where I can't even use my fingerprint reader, before I do a restart. I settings I can see an error notification under "Fingerprint reading (Windows Hello)" saying that no fingerprint reader compatible to Windows Hello had ben found.
After restarting it all functions again every time as it should.

@Pixel density I am having the exact same issue. XPS 13 9345, no option for using the finger print reader **only after the computer has been in sleep mode**
The error notification presents under Windows Hello -> Fingerprint reader -> no fingerprint reader compatible to Windows Hello can be found.
