Screen Mirror XPS 13 to Samsung Smart TV gets me a black screen

Can someone help me with screen mirroring my new XPS 13 to my Samsung Smart TV.  When I try all I get is a black screen on my TV. I have checked and it is set to mirror screen, not extend or the likes.... I am able to successfully mirror both my Microsoft Surface Book 2 and the households Samsung mobile phones. Thanks

How do you connect it? (For example, HDMI, DisplayPort, USB-C to DisplayPort , any adapters or similar)
Does windows recognize that a new display has been connected? I guess it does since the way you write, but anyway, double check this with your lid open: Right click the desktop, choose "Display Settings", you should see a heading called "Rearrange your displays" at the top. Also check this: Scroll down, click "Advanced display settings", make sure both your laptop display and your Samsung TV is in the dropdown under "Choose Display".

Also double check sure computer does not go to sleep while closing lid, press win-key, type lid, choose "Change what closing the lid does". Choose do nothing on that page that comes up.

Screen Mirroring via Windows 10. "Connect to a Wireless Display". Yes both Windows and the TV recognize they are connected and Yes the laptop is on the "allowed" list of connection devices on the TV. My lid is open and neither the TV nor the laptop are asleep. The devices are both connected under "Advanced Display Settings" and the TV is set to Duplicate the laptop screen.

None of these things are issues. It is connecting wirelessly and yes it is connecting. It is not going to sleep. My monitors are set up correctly. It is something specific to the Dell.  My samsumg S10+ connects seamlessly as does my Microsoft Surface book II.

Same problem here. HP laptop, Samsung/Apple phones all work fine. Dell XPS 13 either shows a black screen on the extended display, or it freezes whatever it is mirroring. The mouse seems to move around but has no effect.

I am having the same issue. My laptop is a Dell 33L2 and connecting to Samsung Smart TV via bluetooth and Windows 10. Both devices recognise each other, I can either mirror or extend TV as the second screen. It plays the audio of videos, but the screen is always black. Any idea?

jeroen,

We will need your help in performing some simple steps to identify what’s causing this. I am adding videos to make it easier for you to follow. Let me know if you are stuck at any point during the troubleshooting, and I’d be glad to help you.

First, we need to identify if this is a hardware or software issue. The quickest way to do that would be to run the onboard Dell diagnostics. It would last about 10 minutes.

To run the diagnostics:
1. Power on your system from a powered-off state.
2. Keep tapping (tap-tap-tap) the F12 key the moment the system powers on.
3. Select Diagnostics and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the test.

NOTE: You need not run the extended stress/memory test for now, but please make sure the power adapter is connected at all times during the test.

Here is a short video guide: https://dell.to/3KeLKyK

You will get a validation/error code after the diagnostics are complete. Please share the code with us so we can review it and suggest what needs to be done next.
