No audio while streaming video in any browser

Hello -

I have an XPS 8900 (Windows 10). I recently upgraded my gpu to an Nvidia gtx 1060 3g. Now when I attempt to stream video (twitch, browsers, etc.) I get no sound through my speakers. Audio works when playing a cd, playing stored music files, etc. just not while streaming. I should also mention that my monitor was previously connected to my old graphics card via the vga port and now it's connected via the dvi-d (dual link) port but with a dvi-d (single link) cable as my current monitor monitor doesn't have dual link ports (or hdmi, or displayport, for that matter - hoping to change that soon). The surround sound speakers are plugged into audio jacks.

When I open the volume mixer I notice that my computer is registering audio while playing a video in, let's say, Chrome, but the sound isn't coming through my speakers (although, weirdly, if I click on the volume slider in the Device or Applications sections while in the mixer, it plays a system sound AND the browser audio comes through for the duration the system sound. WTH?)

If I test system sounds they work. If I configure Realtek in playback I get sound. Nothing is muted. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers repeatedly. Disabling and enabling audio enhancements does nothing and the windows 10 troubleshooter is completely useless. Help!

EDIT: Edited to say that I've also checked to make sure that sound is enabled in my browsers' settings.

TIA
