Ethernet unstable with TB16 and Windows 11
I did a clean installation of Windows 11 on my Dell XPS 9370 laptop. It works great when not connected to the docking station. However, when I use the ethernet connected to the TB16, the ethernet drops out every few seconds.
I have installed the latest network drivers from the Dell support site for my device, but still have the same problem.
In device manager I notice three items have exclamation marks on them, maybe this is part of the issue?
- PCI Data Acquisition and Signal Processing Controller
- PCI Memory Controller
- SM Bus Controller

Have you checked for new drivers such as for the chipset? Windows 11 is basically Win 10 right now so not sure why such a situation would develop.
There may also be Thunderbolt firmware or drivers involved, has your system had Win 11 added to the drivers versions or any change in this regard. Other OEMs I have checked have not yet made such a change so the drivers are probably the same.

I updated all the drivers using Support Assist.
I just updated all the drivers in the Chipset category for my device and rebooted, and the exclamation marks in Device Manager have gone away! Thanks!
However, the ethernet is still unstable on the TB16 and I'm having to use an external USB to Ethernet adapter at the moment, which works but is a bit clunky and kind of making my dock not that useful anymore.

OK, your system does show some later drivers so I assume the Support Assist took care of those. Since I don't use the Support Assist, I am not that sure how reliable it is, especially for something like drivers for a external Ethernet device, which seem to show A23 from 13 Sep..
If you make sure your Bios and the Dock drivers are updated, I will set up my system to see how it works using the Ethernet. I assume all connections are good. Maybe the ethernet is picking up some type of packet loss and making it drop offline.
I will post back later today after I check my system.

There are a number of chipset drivers on the support page here. I would suggest installing them as they may be the cure.

OK, I just my system set up. I had to do several driver updates since I had not used the Dock in quite a while. Edit: My current system is not on Win 11 since it isn't qualified..
When I first plugged in the Ethernet to the dock, the Wi-Fi symbol did not go away as I would expect. I installed the new Etherned driver for the dock and the Ethernet icon showed as the update was being done, and I had to do a repair install which eventually installed the newer driver.
It has been stable now for about 15 minutes. If you want me to leave it on for a while and continue watching, let me know.
The Realtek USB GbE Family Controller is 10.47.818.2021 from 8/18/2021.

Since installing all the chipset and network drivers manually outside of Support Assist, the network is now stable with the dock. Thanks everyone for your help. Sadly, I didn't do them one at a time so I don't know which one fixed it, but all good now for last 24 hours at least.

If you are powering your laptop from the dock, you may have some issues. i.e. Fan runs on high, External monitors flicker when laptop lid is closed and maybe some other odd issues.
What I learned was that the laptop was not getting enough juice, so I plugged the laptop in using the power block and plugged that into a separate wall outlet.
That would see to explain all of the odd issues with this dock.

I have this exact same issue however my laptop is an XPS 15 9500. According to Dell update software, all drivers and firmware are up-to-date. Only thing that doesn't work on the dock is the ethernet. Intermittent issues and have to use a separate adapter which fixes the problem. Running Windows 11. According to device manager, the Realtek driver is the Windows 11 version listed on the Dell site (1153.6.0418.2022).
Dock firmware is up-to date. Any suggestions?

You will need to install the ASMedia drivers for the TB16 dock. Pretty sure there are only Windows 10 drivers, but they should work fine on 11.

I have the same problem as CCal1ahan, but my laptop is an Inspiron 5570, and instead of a dock, I'm using my Dell P3421W - monitor hub capacity, the ethernet goes to the monitor with a USB adapter and then the whole thing is connected to the laptop via USB C (power, internet, etc) which didn't give me any trouble on Windows 10. However, the moment I upgraded to 11, the thing started going on and off for no reason. I have installed all the previously suggested drivers, including the one for the dock I do not have in hopes it would help. In other suggestions, I could try out?
