Dell XPS 13 9380 Battery
Hi,
It is less than two years that I have bought my Dell XPS 13 9380, but the battery is swollen and is deforming the laptop keyboard and touchpad. Now I'm looking in the Dell online store, but I cannot find any batteries for Dell XPS 13 9380! Where can I buy an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) battery for my laptop? By the way, it's a shame that something like this happens to a product like XPS, which is said to be a premium quality product of Dell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please care about the quality of your productS!!!!!!! Less than 2 years?? And now I cannot even find a replacement battery!!! not acceptable

The battery is not considered user-replaceable, so Dell will only sell it with installation.
That said, get the swollen battery out of the system now - and out of your home or office. It will damage the system and is a safety hazard.
If you want to replace it yourself, OEM batteries are readily available.

@ejn63 The website that you mentioned sells only used batteries. How can I buy it from Dell with installation in Canada? Any suggestions for third-party brands? Thanks

You'll need to call Dell Canada and as for "out of warranty" repair. There's a charge for the call, which is applied to the replacement service.
Parts-people.com lists its parts as refurbished, but that's the legal requirement for selling anything that's passed through another vendor (Dell). The battery will be new and carry the same 12 month warranty one from Dell will. Even Dell will list the replacement as "Refurbished" since it's obtained in bulk - not in a retail package.
I would not take a chance on third-party batteries.

Thanks. Anyway, my suggestion for people who are not sure about buying Dell XPS (like me 18 months ago) is that don't waste your money. Buy something more reliable. Dell XPS is not like before.

Perhaps a Macbook Pro would be more suitable?

Welcome to the Dell Community @A__R
All Lithium-ion Polymer batteries can swell.
Apple batteries are the worst.
I have thousands of Apple batteries that have failed.

However, you're more likely to get designed-in defects with Macbooks, as anyone who suffered through years of Apple's butterfly keyboards, or systems where a faulty webcam leads to no-powerup, or systems where the high voltage power to the LCD backlight is right next to the pin that sends 3V to the CPU, meaning that a small liquid spill instantly fries the (soldered in) CPU.
They all have problems of one sort or another. You do get better service and support with Apple and Microsoft than with some others, but particularly with Apple, you should - since you're paying upward of if not more than twice the price of equivalent PC hardware.

Thanks, @U2CAMEB4ME and @ejn63. I'm not a fan of Apple, but something that is clear for me now is that Apple products are consistent in terms of quality. When I first bought my Dell XPS 13 9380, I exchanged it twice until I got a laptop without a manufacturing defect. The first one had a touchpad issue and the second one had a lid and hinge issue. However, in Apple or Microsoft products, you usually do not see random manufacturing defects.

@ejn63, I agree with you. To summarize, we can say in Apple, Microsoft, and Dell, you should expect:
Apple: designed-in defects
Microsoft: designed-in defects
Dell: designed-in defects + manufacturing defects

Same with me! And when the guys at GeekSquad took it out they said maybe because you leave it plugged in all the time? And I said I didn't start leaving it plugged in until the battery life went from 2 hours then to 30 min and then to 10 min - so no choice.
I have had this lap top 3 years so I am also very disappointed and upset and this has endangedered my work and income. Also trying to find the dell original replacement product has been impossible which makes me think that the battery was defective to begin with and that's why they don't sell it anymore. The Dell XPS 13 9380 Battery GXDH8 seems impossible to find in their product catalog.

Batteries last 2-3 years on average, so it's not unexpected you need a new one. Neither is it difficult to find an OEM replacement.

And notebook models have a market life of a year or less. Intel has been releasing new generation CPUs about every year -- meaning that notebooks are replaced in the market on the same time schedule.
