XPS 8940, not supporting PCIe Gen 4

The motherboard PCIe x16 slot capability is Gen 4. But it's supporting up to Gen 3. I know Chipset H470 will support Gen 3. My question is if it can support up to Gen 3, capability also should be Gen 3, why it is showing Gen 4?

@MindLord   it doesnt support 4.0 and will never support 4.0 despite what the other posters say about the 8940.

PCIe Gen3.0 x 4 NVMe is supported by the chipset.

Only one slot is X16 the other slot is X4.

SLI or Crossfire is NOT SUPPORTED.

NVIDIA and ATI are actually abandoning these.

PCIe Gen4.0 is not supported for NVME or Video.

GPU-Z is not reading what is coming from the board.

CPU-Z and GPU-Z often guess or lie or get this wrong.

Did you get an answer to your question?  The 10th gen processors are PCIe 3.0 while the 11th gen processors should be PCIe 4.0

Correction to my previous post.  With the old chipset, H470, you are not going to get PCIe 4 even if you have an 11th gen CPU.  It needs the new 5 series MB, but Dell is still using the old one that was designed for gen 10.

The GPUZ screenshot you posted is accurately reporting the correct information for your GPU.  It's called GPU-Z because this is the information on your GPU.  It does not report supported information for your chipset, motherboard, or CPU. There are other programs that will pull this information.

Your photo shows GPU support for PCIe x16 (gen 4) which is correct.  The 3060ti supports pcie gen 4.  That is what your 3060ti GPU supports.  This isn't what is currently being utilized.  The x16 gen 4 reporting in GPUz has nothing to do with whether the CPU or the chipset or the board support pcie gen 4.

Your chipset does not support pcie gen 4, and it is not running at gen 4.  If you look at your photo, your GPU is currently running at PCIE x16 (gen 2).  The "@" symbol reflects your current link state.
