password was reset when computer sent in for repair!!!!!!!!

we sent my daughter's laptop computer in for repair (to have a new screen installed) we just got the computer back and now the admin password that I set when computer was new, is not being accepted now. it say to insert disc, media device ect. hmmmmm before I sent if off the password work and now it will not. the computer is setup as admin then my daughters log in. how did they reset my password at the repair center? the tech support online was no help. :smileymad:  :smileymad: support is telling me i need to reinstall vista. any help out there to reset password or send it back to dell. computer is only 6mths old.

you may have tried this already, but have you tried entering no password?

 

otherwise, and as silly as it may sound, it might be worth it just to reinstall vista.

There are many utilities to reset the admin password. Google it and you will have many resources.

thank you both for the help. i did find program that you can download to recovery password. but the cost is 49-299 dollars. you can reset password in dos. restarted computer F8 start safe mode-with c command-make sure under administrator c:Windows-net user administrator * then reset pass word. you can also just type in net user change password on everyone that is on computer. it was easy but i still think that i shouldnt have had to do this.

I will never buy another dell product as long as I live, they did sane thing to me and now claim they didn't,  sent the p o s in for repairs for the 10th time and now I have a 3 thousand dollar paperweight

Sent my laptop in for repairs for the 10th time get my cpu back and they have it locked with admin password and now I can't even get on the laptop, I will never buy another dell product as long as I live
