What is MP3 and how do I use it to send copy?
From a real novice! I have used the Sound Recorder in Windows XP for adding voice over to DVD movies and now I am being asked to audition using MP3. Is MPEG Layer-3, in Sound Recorder, the same as MP3?
Can I use the Sound Recorder to record in MPEG Layer-3 and send the audition by internet? If so, how do I do this? Or do I need additional softwere?
When I attempted to use Sound Recorder and record in MPEG-Layer3, I notice appeared indicating there was not enough available memory. Does this mean I could record in this format if I were to install a larger memory card. I already added a 526(?) memory card to my computer.
Any suggestions and help will be greatly appreciated.

yes mpeg layer 3 is mp3, and yes you can use sound recorder to make a recording into mp3 and send it through the internet...
configuring mpeg layer3 "mp3" in sound recorder it will ask you what attributes to use, and generally 128kbps on 48000Hz will do.. this is just the quality of the recording also choose sterio so it will play back on both speakers and not just one as in mono
as for memory, you installed a 526mb? do you mean 512mb stick of ram?
if so that is plenty for what you want

Thanks for the clarification about MP3. I've tried your suggestion, but I still can't record. I don't have the choice of 128 kbps on 48,000 Hz on my properties list. When I tried 56kBIT at 24,000 Hz, I still get the message that there is not enough memory. Yes, I installed a 512 memory stick over two years ago and have not had any memory problems from when I had the original smaller size memory stick that came with the computer.
Any suggestions? The message says to close all other programs to gain memory. I am not running any other programs at the time I am using Sound Recorder.
