Internet Explorer Won't Allow my to Type on websites...HELP

Hi,

I am having trouble logging on to some websites.  When they ask for my password and email, I enter it into the field provided.  I click next, but then the error site pops up telling me to enter a valid email and password.  I've been trying this for days and it does not seem to be going away.  I tried this on my laptop and I had no trouble at all.  So the website is not the source of the problem.  This problem popped up a few days ago.  I use XP, how can I repair internet explorer?  Back when I was using 98, I know I can do this in the Control Panel.  BUt where is that option now?

Thanks

I can't see this being a problem with XP because that message is being generated and verified by the site, not the comptuer or Windows.  You need to get in touch with the site's webmaster and find out from them what's going on.

This happen to multiple sites.  And also, I tried logging in with the sites on Mozilla, no problem with that browser.  And again, the problem SHOULDN"T be with the website.  I tried logging in with the laptop with IE and it went without a hitch.

I am having the same trouble. Sites that I was able to go onto about 3 days ago, ie. message boards., I haven't been able to get on in 2 days now. I have tried resetting my cookies, to default,  I have Ad-Aware 6.0 also.

When I contacted the webmaster, she suggest I clear my cookies. My settings delete them when I log off.

Whenever I try to logon it also states to register or login...not an error message that the info typed in is incorrect.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Will give the spyware scanners a shot, but I do run it quite often, so maybe its not that.  And certainly this problem is confined to IE as Mozilla does not have this problem.

Symptoms: Massive IE slowdown, especially when typing text into forms
Cleverness: 9/10
Manual removal difficulty: Very easy, if you know where to look
Identifying lines in HijackThis log:

O19 - User stylesheet: c:\windows\my.css

The first variant of CoolWebSearch wasn't even identified as such. There only were several threads of users experiencing enormous slowdowns in IE when typin messages into text boxes. Delays of over a minute before the typed text appeared were reported. Also some redirections to www.datanotary.com were reported.

The solution to this problem took a while to surface, but after a few weeks (which is pretty long) someone reported the problem going away when going into IE Options, Accessability and disabling the 'Use My Stylesheet' option. After that, the fake stylesheet file could be deleted.

The hijack installed a stylesheet that used a flaw in Internet Explorer and allowed a .css stylesheet file to execute Javascript code. The code in the file was encrypted, and spawned a popup off-screen that did the redirecting. However, this file was called on almost every action taken in IE, slowing it down - this was the most obvious when typing text.

1. run cwshredder http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html

2. then use

and

I wasn't having problem with it being slow, or anything like that, It just wouldn't let me onto sites, and whenever it required login info....such as screen name and password, it would react like I didn't enter anything, and would keep telling me to register or login.

I fixed my problem however. I got rid of IE and downloaded Netscape. Fixed that problem right away, and also others that I was having. Hopefully, I will like it. A bit different, but so far, and after only 2 days, I'm noticing things are running and operating more smoothly.

Thank you for all the help. I would still like to find out what happened to my IE. I would rather use that, but at this point I have no other options.
