Windows Service Start Failure - Possibly Office

Lately on the Windows 10 Dell Latitude 7480 laptops we've been getting at my office I'm getting a message as soon as I complete the setup and log in as the user:

"Window Service Start Service Failure" The following text appears in the box: (Cannot start service from the command line or a debugger. A windows service must be installed using installutil.exe) and then started with the Server Explorer, Window Services Administrative tool or Net Start command.

I try to click 'OK' and it asks for admin rights and I put them in. It continues to happen every time the machine is rebooted. The message doesn't tell me what it's for or anything so I'm unsure on where to even look.

I THINK it's got something to do with the included Office because all the office file icons are blank and when hovering over them, the type says ms-resource:Strings/FtaDisplayName.docx, xlsx, etc

same issue as well with xps 15.  Dell is trying to make me pay to have their tech fix this, even though I am still under warranty.  regret my purchase

Same problem on my XPS... Just started.

Asks me twice for admin password, then shows me the same message.  No clue what's failing other than a Dell service.

Are the user accounts you are running this from full admins? If they are not I would recommend trying to run this under a full admin profile. Most likely the issue is UAC based, and therefore is software and not hardware, hence why they would want you to pay them for assistance as software issues normally are not covered under warranties.

Same problem here at Annoventure.. Anyone found a solution yet?

I too seek a solution for this.

I am not averse to uninstalling SupportAssist, a non essential piece
of broken software that the vendor apparently does not seem very
concerned about. I have seen many complaints matching those
expressed here, but nothing concrete from Dell.

Hopefully this will all improve sometime soon,.

I would definitely get rid of support assist. I did and problem of windows service start failure went away.

I can confirm that I solved this problem by adjusting the UAC settings on the Local User account it was running under. The UAC had been set to Max level. Lowered it to next level and the Support Assistant ran without giving the Windows Service Start Failure.
