Windows 10 and my Alienware M17

I received the notice that I was gong to be able to get the Windows 10 upgrade.  I also read that I cannot dual-boot the Windows 10 upgrade alongside my Windows 7 home OS.

Just wanted to confirm that and also wondered if anyone knows of any issues with Windows 10 as it relates to the Alienware laptops.

Pappo46,

I have heard there are issues with Dual booting with Windows 7 and 10. I cannot confirm this because I have not tried it. If you choose to upgrade to Windows 10 you may want to download the free version of magicjellybean free version and print out all your key codes in case windows 10 install fails. Plus you need to have a record of your codes.

Dell no longer provides stickers with the codes.

* Go here: https://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder/

* Download/Save KeyFinderInstaller.exe to the Windows desktop

* Run it to install the software but choose "Custom Installation"

* Remove the checks from the additional software

Ensure you make USB recovery media with the latest version of Alienware Respawn:

This gives you a means to revert if something goes wrong. Also backup data to an external hard drive.

You can then opt to register for your free upgrade. Its out on the 31st of July:

In my experience everything works well on a clean install of build 10 10130 however I expect the RTM to be more stable.

Most software that runs on Windows 7 and 8.1 will run on Windows 10 without a problem.
