symantec norton systemworks

Anybody know anything about Norton's 360 security program?  It appears that there won't be a Systemworks 2007?  I miss the registry cleaner and scanning of the 2005 program.

Have you considered the 2006 version of Norton SW and SW Premier?

From what I've read, the 2006 does not have the cleaning options that the 2005 had.  It would be nice to find a registry cleaner, optimizer, and antivirus from one company so that there aren't conflicts.

On the computer I'm sending this from I have NSW Premier 2006 and you're right, there is no registry cleaner program. It does have the optimizer, windows doctor, AV, spyware and other goodies though and is quite reliable.  No firewall though with NSW.

Depending on how you would rate yourself...novice, intermediate or advanced user, you may just be better off without any of the Symantec products.

Not that they're bad...on the contrary, Symantec products are pretty good, just not very user friendly for the novice home user. Don't get me wrong, the user interface makes things relatively simple, but the "unfriendly" part comes from the constant problems with the applications "reinstall" warning/notices. They are better suited for the corporate world imho, where there is usually a team of IT professionals who can come running when things start to turn sideways.

The Norton Antivirus was probably the best on the market back when Peter Norton still had his hand in it. Since he sold out to Symantec, the products have taken a spiraling nose-dive with intermittent attempts at a struggling climb...but it seems not since 2002 have they been able to recover their number one spot.

Give yourself some time to look around for what you need. Meanwhile, consider using the Windows Live OneCare for your One Click Fix.

Then, for your other security concerns while you shop around for something you feel may your needs better, consider using some of the free applications and free online scans to keep your computer running smooth:

A variety of online virus scans should also be considered on occasion:
F-Secure
BitDefender
Panda

...as well as several online spyware/adware scans:
Trend Micro Anti-Spyware for the Web
Panda SpyXposer
Webroot Spy Audit

...for an outstanding online or free download trojan scan:
A-Squared Anti-Malware
AVG-Anti-Spyware (Formerly Ewido)

...and for your firewall:
ZoneAlarm Free Version
Outpost Free
Kerio
