Update with LCC dont work
Hello together,
I get the Error "Invalid share name or repository location"
What I have done:
- tried Firmware Update over the website Download 7/8 looped for 4-5 hours (reboot the system)
- after reboot the warning "Invalid share name .." came and the update dont start
- tried update "CIFS/USB/HTTP/HTTPS" use website downloads.dell.com, I get catalog, decide to do only 4 updates, it worked
- second run with last 4 update, now I get the error cannot resolve downloads.dell.com
- I have done the update with the PET iso-file, but LCC update dont work warning "Invalid share name .."
In the logs I found this
```
Unable to continue the firmware update.
SUP0537
USC.Embedded.1:LC.Embedded.1
DavidSch,
The issue is with the Lifecycle Controller, but iDrac version 4.20.20.20 should correct what is causing the error. What you can do is use the iDrac web gui to run the updates, including the LCC and iDrac, as the iDrac shouldn't be affected. You can also use the IP address of the repository instead of host name for the Lifecycle Controller Platform Update Wizard.
Let me know if this helps.
Hi Chris
sorry for the late reply. it take sometime.
iDrac shows only 'local' for updates. I use the bootable ISO-file for updates. After this I can choose website in the iDrac. I do the last updates
It was a long way
Now LCC seems to be working.
Best
I have updated my iDRAC 9 to firmware 4.40.10.00. I am seeing the same problems on my R640.
It's hard to believe after YEARS and YEARS and multiple generations of servers and different iDRAC models and all their firmware versions, I'm still dealing with the same Lifecycle Controller update problems.
Only ONCE was I able to update server firmware with the Lifecycle Controller out of the box without wasting tons of time searching for answers and trying this and trying that. That was about TEN YEARS ago but Dell customers are STILL seeing the same defects!
It's like banging your head against the wall expecting something good to happen. It doesn't. I'm not going to waste any more of my time spelling out the same problems only to hear more guesses that don't work.
I'll be doing manual updates until I can retire and finally leave the very expensive, low quality computer industry behind for good.
