2 days ago I installed IT Assistant 5.0/7.3 on a new server with MSDE 2000 SP4 on Windows Server 2003 SP1 (german environment). I get the same error.
Before that I had IT Assistant 7.2 with MSDE 2000 SP3/SP3a (?) on Window XP SP2 an the error did not occur. I'm sure that I never configured anything with MSDE in both environments.
it seems, that only some German versions didn't work correct.
But i haven't any problem with MSDE.
I've installed the MSDE by the IT Assistant Installation(7.1), but no SQL-Servicepack. Systemcontrol software shows 8.00.2039 for the SQL Desktop Engine.
Can you tell us exactly how you got your system to the way it is? Important things for us to know are if you installed MSDE2000 and then SP4 for it or if you installed SP3 before that and then moved to SP4... Thanks much.
I tried to reproduce the issue but was unable to. Here's what I did:
1. Installed Windows 2003 with SP1 German Standard Server Edition 2. Install ITA 7.2 Gold (Allow MSDE2000 to be installed) 3. Start ITA and allow J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 3 to be installed 4. Discover at least one object (anything) 5. Close ITA 6. Download and install MSDE 2000 SP3a (sql2kdesksp3.exe) from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=90dcd52c-0488-4e46-afbf-acace5369fa3 7. Start ITA 8. Click on the "Warnungen" menu, select "Filter" 9. Right click on "Warnungsmabnahmenfilter" and select "Neur Warnungsmabnahmenfilter" 10. Continue through the wizard and select the one system that you discovered. Go through to the end. 11. Click on "Fertig stellen" to finish it
No error messages appeared and the new filter was created.

DBConnection::executeWithResultSet:Stmt execution error.22003: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Arithmetischer Überlauffehler beim Konvertieren von expression in den Datentyp datetime
Thank you. I'll give this a try. But there is no such thing as ITA 7.3. If you can find the link for the download and share it with me then I will believe you.
I did things a little bit differently and still wasn't able to reproduce the issue:
1. Installed Windows 2003 with SP1 German Standard Server Edition
2. Installed MSDE 2000 from the ITA install (Didn't install ITA yet though)
3. Installed MSDE 2000 SP4
4. Installed ITA 7.2 Gold
5. Start ITA and allow J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 3 to be installed
6. Discover at least one object (anything)
7. select Manage/Updates (translated from german Verwalten/Softwareaktualisierungen)

Are you using SQL Server 2000 SP3a for desktop? There are three versions of SQL Server 2000 SP3 available from Microsoft's website.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=90DCD52C-0488-4E46-AFBF-ACACE5369FA3&displaylang=en
Which one are you using?

Hi,
I had installed MSDE 2000 with integrated SP4 (to be downloaded from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=de&FamilyID=8e2dfc8d-c20e-4446-99a9-b7f0213f8bc5, file SQL2000.AS-KB884525-SP4-x86-GER.EXE).
I installed it using command line
setup.exe SAPWD="MyPassword" TARGETDIR="D:\Programme\Microsoft SQL Server MSSQL"
But I can't tell if IT Assistant installation asked for the MSDE password!?
Regards, Frank

can you try to create a filter or compare a group before you install SQL SP3 or SP4?
