Support Assist runs automatically and blind - Inspiron 5448 Windows 10 Pro 1909

Build 18363.657

Service Tag , BIOS A10

For a period Nov 2019 through Jan 2020 Support Assist stopped working, would freeze. Remove and reinstall, no help, then would not complete re-install. Just gave up at that point.

Sometime in Feb 2020, Support Assist starts running spontaneously, this session running now, maybe a week after running last. There is no entry in the Program List under Dell, or where it used to be, under S. It usually takes an hour to complete, and slows down the machine, so I preferred the old method, where a reminder would come up

I do now find it is running as a service, not as an app, Automatic, Delayed Start. Is this a change?

It shows in Apps & Features as installed Feb. 1, 2020, Version 3.4.1.49. 187MB. Do I dare uninstall it and try to reload it? I like it when it works, but would prefer it not run when it feels like it, and perhaps have some control other than Cancel or Kill it.

This is very nice that I got an immediate response that my complaint about Support Assist is not covered by my warranty that does not exist(!)

This is not a warranty issue, this is about software that Dell modifies and distributes to their customers, that suddenly is operating erratically. If you desire to maintain the customer relationship that you have worked so hard to build and maintain, you will respond to these Quality Assurance problems, as you have in the past. Eventually you fix your problem, likely caused by Microsoft software updates, but you can’t fix what you don’t know is broken.

This isn't an error, it's clearly now designed to run like this, and it's annoying and unwanted.

Why would anyone want the Support Assist program to just pop up and open randomly while they're in the middle of working or presenting? Suddenly slowing the laptop.

We should be able to schedule things like this, or have the option of doing it manually.

I'm close to needing a new laptop, and this is so intrusive and annoying, it's making me reconsider whether I will go for a Dell again.
