dell dimension 3000 hard drive upgrade

can i run a 300 gb maxtor sata hard drive in my dell 3000 along with the 80 gb  that i already have .
if i can what hardware do i need to buy

You can use a 300GB hard drive in the D-3000, as this model does not support SATA, you will need to install a PCI SATA controller card.  There's very little speed advantage, in using a 7200rpm SATA instead of a 7200rpm EIDE hard drive and certainly not worth the extra cost of installation.
 
To install a second hard drive, you will require the bracket to hold the drive, this can be purchased for $9.00 from here.

no you cannot first of all lower dell dimension models cannot hold 2 harddrives. So you are going to have to replace the hardrive in your pc. 2nd i dont think SATA will work with your dimension. most likely IDE harddrive. Check your manual. If you're not sure go with IDE worst to worst case return it!

Incorrect.  While the system doesn't ship equipped to handle 2 hard drives, it can easily do so.
