Windows 10 and Blu-Ray Playback
I've had Windows 10 for a while now and thought I had worked through most of the compatibility issues. However, I am just discovering that neither my Desktop (Aurora-R2) or Laptop (M17x-R3) (both with blu-ray players), will recognize and play any blu-ray discs. The drives show up without any errors and play other media fine (CD, DVD).
After searching, I have tried a number of things (registry tweaks, driver updates, other software) but so far nothing has worked. I have VLC and tried the codec tweak; I also have CyberLink 18.
Does anyone know a working solution?

In Windows Explorer, can you see the individual files on the Blu-Ray disc?
- This only requires Windows and a working optical drive (no other software is needed for this initial basic check).
Not with VLC, but yes ... CyberLink Power-DVD 18 (with Blu-Ray support) should be able to decode/play the videos on the discs.

I had Blu Ray player software I paid for which worked on Windows 7 but not after upgrading (including a fresh install) to Windows 10. Switched to free LEAWO Blu-ray Player, which works for playing Blu Ray media, although it doesn't always support menus, etc. and I usually have to sift through which media file to play (longest one usually).

Region Code must be set on the drives.
Then the Cyberlink software re-installed
Then the encryption key updated as they change this all the time.
ESPECIALLY After feature updates Break playback.
Windows 10 upgrade or Reinstall Breaks any Cyberlink Blueray playback.
Cyberlink Version 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 are NOT supported on 10. Version 12 and up work but only after installing Retail version and installing the Retail patch. OEM Versions are not supported.
Cyberlink 12 and up work fine with blueray and clean install of windows 10.
Just showed a client this yesterday after they swore up and down that they had been sold defective hardware.
Since windows 10 borks the AVHC blueray codec every feature update this will become more and more of a problem over time.
Occasionally when you are online it will say in the background where you cant see it " you must update cyberlink powerDVD to continue playback of this content " Cyberlink DOES NOT SUPPORT OEM versions. If you want to be done with the re re re re re re re install train you have to buy a retail Blueray USB drive and remove cyberlink. Then Reboot. Then clean install Cyberlink for the USB Blueray Drive. Then Try to play a blueray disk on the USB drive and then download the new encryption key update bla bla bla bla.

Install this patch update to fix certain issues.

VLC is pretty awesome, but please remember, VLC has codecs that don't necessarily meet the same guidelines in the US. You can try U2USoft Windows 10 Blu-ray Player, it is good and cheap, and officially authorized. And it works perfectly on Windows 10 pc.
