Trying Install SIMS 2

I have tried to go back and fourth between EA games' technical support as well as Dell's technical support and have been unsuccessful installing SIMS 2 on my new Dell pc.  EA games tried to do everything they could to help me install the game on my pc but they suggested that the reason that the new SIMS 2 would not install is because it's very sensitive to DVD burners because of it's copy rights.  They suggested I call DELL again to make a back up or remove my DVD options off my pc in order to install the new SIMS 2 pc video game and then reinstall it.  Is there any way you can help me with this problem as soon as possible?  I would really appreciate it.

Do you have Direct X 9 downloaded? The Sims 2 supports this and I know with the one lap top I have at home, the game wouldn't download because it wasn't installed. If you go to Microsoft's website, they have the latest version for you to install - as long as you have Windows XP. That also could be a problem - otherwise I don't know. Hope this helps possibly.

Hi Janet,

We have seen some issues with Sonic`s DLA program causing conflicts with the Game. If you have it, consider disabling it or uninstalling the program. Click on the CD/RW link in my post and scroll to Section 13-0.

Best Regards

God, grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway,
the good fortune to run into the ones I do and the eyesight to tell the
difference.

Good Luck, I've had my DVD/RW drive replaced and it has caused nothing but problems with my SIMS 2. I can't install it either.  The DVD LOCKS the computer up when I try to reboot.  I've gotten Drive 5 can't be found errors on boot up if I have ANY CD in the drive.  I hope you can find a fix, cause I've been going around with Dell for months on this issue.  I've even had a refurbished computer sent to me to replace the NEW computer I bought and it has the SAME problems OUT OF THE BOX.  Dell won't admit this.

I've taken screen shots of a lot of people posting these issues and I am currently setting up a complaint to the attorney general.  There is either a defect in the philips DVD drive, Sonic software, or something with the computer and compatablity issues.  I paid a lot of money to get a system I expected to work properly and I feel I am been taken for a FOOL by Dell.
