Hi Dave,

Please run the Dell diagnostics on your drive to verify this result. I've got a link to that procedure below.

Hi Osprey,

I have the same type of DVD Drive TSSTcorp DVD+/-RW TS-L633C  in my Inspiron 400 (Zino HD) using Windows 7 Prof

and after installing the new firmware DW60 I got the error message in PC Check:

Flash ROM Test failed with error code: WCD41-L60.

The Dell Diagnostic (Build 1374.2) reported in Flash test  error 0F00:2872

Then I reflashed to  the former firmware DW50 and bothdiagnostic programs passed successful.

Maybe there is some problem in the new firmware DW60 ?

Regards Dieter

Hi Deiter,

That was clever, trying the old firmware. Definitely something others should try.

I'll contact the support team and see if they can look into it.

Thanks Dieter! Tried to obtain the older version (DW50) firmware, however Dell's software site does list it for download. Do you know how I can obtain a copy?

Thanks

I tied earlier. Did not see the link for "other versions". Saw it for other updates. Will look harder tonight. Thanks

Hi Dave,

I got it from the same location as the newest firmware on the dell web.

"Drivers and Download" for my system

in chapter DVD/CD there are different drive types listed

click on the description link for the matching drive

TSST TS-L633C 12.7 SATA Trayload 8X DVDRW

then there is page with an option "-> Other versions"

Thanks the link to the older versions of firmware.

good luck

Dieter

Thanks Osprey. Its great that I'm passing the hardware scan! Is this INFO being passed to DELL? If there is a problem with the software update, why does DELL make it available without warning the users? Maybe you can not answer. Just hoping that DELL reads their fourms and takes action.

I've passed the information along.

This is part of the continuing saga of the TS L633C. I am getting an error code of WCD41-OEX. I did run the F12 diagnostics, and the drive passed that test. Has there been any improvement on this yet? I will take advantage of the the older update until then.

Thanks.

How do you reflash to the former firmware DW50? Do you delete the driver DW60?
