Data Error (cyclic redundancy check)

Big problem here.  I took all my home video's and put them on my computer.  Then I burned them all to DVD+RW disks with my "Philips DVD+RW-D01" drive, using Roxio's Easy CD Creator 5.0 which came already installed on my computer.  Now, I have a stack of DVD+RW disks that have all my home video's on them.  When trying to copy the files from the DVD+RW disk back onto my hard drive, some of the files works, while some give me the following error:

Error Copying file or Folder

Cannot Copy "THE NAME OF THE FILE GOES HERE":  Data Error (cyclic redundancy check).

So, now all of my home videos are stuck on my DVD disks and I am not able to get to them.  Does anybody know what this error means and what I might need to do to get this fixed?  I don't think it's a problem with the disks as some of the files work, and some don't...and this is the same across about 8 different disks.  Some of the disks have no problem at all, but some flat-out won't work.

Any help would be greattly appreciated.

thanks,

Michael

Unfortunately there was no cure.  Dell had to send a technician out to replace the drive.  The DVD's that had the data on it were worthless.  I actually think both the drive & the DVD's were bad.  I ended up buying a new batch of DVD's to record to & have had no problems since.

hope that helps -

Michael
