Does RM5.0.1 support Windows 2003 SP2?
Does anyone know will RM5.0.1 support Windows 2003 SP2?
We will run Replication Manager 5.0.1 on Windows 2003 to backup Exchange Server 2003 Cluster, but there is no support inofrmation of W2K3 SP2 in current RM5 release notes, when will EMC officially announce the compatibility, or release the service pack for W2K2 SP2?
It's urgent because our global policy requires us to upgrade all W2K3 servers to SP2 before May-8, 2007.
Many thanks in advance!
Steven

The announcement for RM's support of SP2 should be coming soon.
If you require support for Sp2 prior to the announcement, please submit an EMC RPA via your sales team immediately.
Windows 2003 SP2 SE and EE will both be supported under the announcment.
As far as I know, RM/SE 3.1, RM 4.0, and RM 5.0 will support SP2.
Hope it helps
James.

Thanks for your rapid and valuable comments, I'll try to contact the sales team to submit the RPA.
Just want to make sure when and how W2K3 SP2 will be supported by RM5 and RM3.0.3, because currently another system of us is running RM3.0.3 and will be upgrade to SP2, but in this forum, someone reported job fail after upgrading to SP2, so we have to wait for more information before we can do this upgrading.
Thanks again,
Steven

Thank you for your information, fortunatelly, my sales is a smart guy, he is now working on the RPQ now. But he told me the result won't come so quickly. Anyway, I'll try.
Stay in tune, I'll keep updating this.
Many thanks,
Steven

Typo - I have EMC RecoverPoint on the brain right now
RPA = RecoverPoint Applicance
I mean to say RPQ (Request Per Quote) - just incase your sales guy has a strange look on his face when you ask him to RPA it.
Thanks.

Good news! It has been announced.
Replication Manager (RM) now supports the following:
Windows 2003 SP2: with minimum versions RM 5.0.0, RM 4.0.0.4, and RM/SE 3.1.0.4.
SQL Server 2005 SP2: with minimum versions RM 5.0.0 and RM/SE 3.1.0.4.
Support for these environments will be added to the Replication Manager section of the EMC Support Matrix on Elab Navigator for June 2007 publication.
cheers
James.

That's super great! How about Exchange Server 2003 SP2? And at this period, where I can get the document/announcement? I have to show something to management team before we implemente this, tons of thanks to you.

Exchange 2003 SP2 is indeed already supported
The qualification announcement for SP2 will be announced in eLab next month when it will be a selectable option, but for now it was a quick announcement in the form of an email so we can get it out on the airwaves as soon as possible.

Many thanks for your help, we are now deploying Replication Manager 5.0.2 on Windows2003 SP1 + Exchange 2003 SP2 Cluster, it works. But we found some problems on W2K3 SP2 + Exchange 2003 SP2 Cluster, we are trying to solve this, not sure if it was caused by the compatibility. I've read the RM5 SP2 release notes carefully, but there is no compatibility information for RM5 on W2K3 SP2 yet. We are looking forward to seeing the announcement on e-Lab and making it clear what hotfixs, pathes we need.
Regards,
Steven

Hope all is well. Sorry for delay, just back from holidays.
Well, the stance of support is only the inclusion of Windows 2003 Sp2 and so the Exch2003 sp2 is fine for use without any additional hotfixes.
If you are still having problems, please feel free to open an EMC Service Request and we can work with you to resolve. We can also post our findings here after resolving the issue for others.
Cheers
James.

RM5.0 requires MS VSS Hotfix KB891957.
Win 2003 (32 and 64 bit) requires MS hotfix KB898790, and requires either KB891957, KB913648 or KB923628.
Cluster extended maintenance mode MS hot fixes 903650 and 919117. There is an occasional problem with KB919117 that is it does not always install properly the first time. Uninstalling then reinstalling does fix this issue with KB919117.
Install java 1.4.2_14 JRE
Microsoft .Net framework 2.0 on all servers designated for RM 5.
