Poweredge R340. Amber light blinking

Hi everyone,

This is my first question here

So, I have a new server installed at one client. Is up for a month or so.

My colleague was there yesterday and told me that in front, it has an amber light blinking. Not HDD/SSD lights.

Here is an attached img.

Any idea what is about before I'm going there?

PS: there was a power outage 2 weeks ago, can have something with this? The server is running very well, anyway.

Thank you,

Laurentiu

Hello

Yes, it could be related to the power outage. An amber light indicates that there was or is an error. It could be a current error or something that happened previously. An improper shutdown due to sudden power loss would likely cause several power related errors that may cause an amber light.

You should review the hardware log. You can access the hardware log from the iDRAC or management applications like OpenManage Server Administrator. You may need to clear the hardware log to clear the amber light.

And, btw,

root" and "calvin".

is not working and from what I know, there is no default secure access which I should find it on the back of the server.

Thank you Daniel,

I'm connected through RDP. I've installed iDRAC Controller, and I access it through web (idrac.local)

It requests a username and password and for domain sais "This iDRAC".

How can I create one?

Thank you,

If you don't know the iDRAC user/pass then you should be able to modify it through the host OS. There is no authentication required by default to make changes in the host OS. You may be able to modify user/pass through management applications like OpenManage Server Administrator or RACADM CLI commands.
